So, it may seem I'm a little late to the party..

I came across all these open 5xxx forums / code resources only in the last few weeks and have been doing a bit of reading.

It almost looks like the project has come to a halt based on politics?, and from what i can understand, none actually running on a engine.

I come here more for educational purposes. I am a programmer only by hobby standards, so some of the code in relation to etpu is totally new to me, but i'm a quick learner.

More about me -> I'm based in Australia, Current interests include oem ford flashing/retuning our local 6 cylinder turbocharged Ford Falcons.

This brings me to the next point. The visteon based PCM in this vehicle has gone from a Blackoak MPC555, to a Silveroak MPC565, to a Copperhead MPC5554.

I know there has been reasonable hacking done to the Chyrsler SRT8 ngic4 processor in terms of using that a solid hardware*, but with suitable hacking, I wouldnt mind attempting to do the same to our Copperhead MPC5554 processor.

Why? The vehicle its attached to already has a 36-1 tooth crank trigger, however, there is duel cam sensors (the engine is equipped with twin VCT Cam). This may add a unsupported configuration to the freescale supplied eptu code, but, lets see how hackable this processor really is first.

Oh, and did i mention, I have the ability to flash my own code to the processor via the CAN bootloader ;) How to get the code working with a built in bootloader occupying the first 0x10000 of rom, is another question.

Can you please provide more details? I am totally confused with which family is which, but I was looking for a stock PCM which would be using one of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerPC_5000#MPC56xx - the 56xx family has ChibiOS support via the ST side of the family.

But this idea might have some licensing issues :(

Hi Russian,

I like your rusefi project by the way, Have used it in a flowbench setup :)

On further inspection, it seems that the australian ford visteon processor is NOT a copperhead processor :(

Seems they went mpc555, mpc565, mpc565 with additional SRAM.

Here's a example of a V8 which would be a mpc565 with additional SRAM..
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-FALCON-FG-FPV-GT-315KW-6SPD-MANUAL-PCM-ECU-COMPUTER-/161388218931?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item25937cca33&_uhb=1
They all have 3 plugs, but sometimes the 3rd plug is not populated. It depends on engine combination, being a 6cylinder turbo vs v8, pcm controlled auto etc.

The American ford processor however, IS a copperhead.

So i wonder if this code could compile for MPC565 instead?

Probably not. The eTPU in the 5xxx processors is quite a bit more capable than the TPU in the 5xx processors so the basic functions would need to be handled differently.

Also the current versions of 05e are using floating point math which the 5xxx handle very well, I don't think the 5xx are quite so happy about them but I'm not positive about this.

bugger...

i read somewhere that the mpc565 and mpc5554 are footprint compatabile*

(i will need to double check this manually)

but a possible option :)

i've reballed bga before with the numerous xbox 360 repairs i've done in the past.

Since the last post, I've been looking at them...

Oh, and I did fix my xbox 360. I just needed to take it all apart, clean it, polish the heat sinks (the surface finish on the CPU heat sink was CRAP) and put it all back together again. Works like a champ. Of course, that DOES take away my need for a reballing station...
